Well I am very close to figuring this out:

This is a short email, but since I said I send an email possibly tonight I
will.

The connector on the right, the one that has been is question with me, goes
to the battery,light harness, it's for measuring the coolant tank level.

The reason I did not reconize because the plug in on the coupe quattro
harenss is different.  The wires match up except for the fact that there is
that red wire.

Red is ussually, allmost allways, when completely red, a power feed. So
hopefully there will be a quick resolution to that.

The middle connector:

 I believe possibly connects with  the rear harness, to the alarm system.

The connectors very simlar, allmost identical to the v6 setup. I will
hopefully be digging into some v6 schematics if I can get my hands on them
to figure this crazy mess out.

The v6 that I pulled parts from did not have the multifuction connector on
the tranny I was hoping for. So that is another issuse I have  to tackle.
