Had a chance to troubleshoot the car yesterday and discovered that the
starter problem (and probably the slew of trouble codes) was caused by
improper grounding.  So, we put together a couple of nice new ground straps
and the starter cranked strong...whir-whir-whir-whir and the ECU only threw
a 2111 code because the motor wasn't started.  We were ecstatic!  I just
knew that we were moments from firing the motor!  "Say, I don't hear the
fuel pump, do you?  No?  Hmmm, let's short it at the fuse box and see what
happens.  Nothing?  Uh oh.  Okay, let's give it juice directly.  Still
nothing?"  *sigh*  I guess I thought my original fuel pump was ruined
because it had sat in aging gasoline for so long, but the amount of time
didn't matter, because the new (used) fuel pump, which was definitely
working when we installed it a week ago, was deader than dead from trying to
run the bad gas.  &%#*>?#$%^!!!!  Stupid me; I should have put in fresh gas.
That mistake is going to cost me.  One more time: anybody got a spare fuel
pump they want to sell?

The good news is that we really are very close to starting it up.  I'll
order a fuel pump and maybe we can get it running by next week.

Any creative ways to get rid of 3.5 gallons of rotten gasoline?  I also have
an unexploded airbag in my garage, so needless to say, my ideas are leaning
towards the scofflaw end of the spectrum.  Whoops, that probably bought me a
visit from the ATF.  Just kidding, Carnivore!
