Hi Koko,

You do need a pilot bearing with an 016 tranny, but it is a different one than the one that came with your 3B motor.  The 3B pilot bearing has a smaller inner diameter than the input shaft for the 016 tranny, and the 3B bearing is also closed at the end while the 016 type is open.

Even if the bearing was the correct one, it's probably a good idea to put a new on in since it's so costly to get to it again later.

I used a pilot bearing puller and was able to hook it onto the back (front, really) of the bearing cage inside its housing, to pull it out.  It can be a real challenge since the bearing has a closed end.

crankshaft, eventhough i believe 016 transmission does not need one. 
You guys with 3b conversion, does your engine already come with one installed at the 
end of the crankshaft?
