[Es2] custom RS2 caliper brackets: feeler post

Hi Richard,

I heard the budget big brake upgrade, at least on some G60 braked cars
like my 200q20v, was supposed to include A8L rotors, not "non-L" A8
rotors. That upgrade, IIRC, was supposed to either require spacers
between the strut housing and caliper bracket, or that the owner
accepted the caliper being off-center by one or two mm. I never heard
of the spacers between the bracket and the caliper. Perhaps that's
due to your rotors not being the A8L type?

I'm interested in this as I want to do the same upgrade on one or two
cars. I have RS2 caliper brackets that I paid something like
$180/pair for a few years back.

I agree, if there is going to be any custom bracketry being made, it
may as well include the correct dimensions so that additional spacers
are not necessary.

This is the upgrade I am referring to:

There is also this one, which refers to the A8 rotor, not A8L.

Are the rotors even different, with and without the L? I'm not trying
to profess any knowledge as to what's what, just trying to reconcile
what I've seen posted so I only have to buy my stuff once.

The one-off mock-up will be ready on Friday for my inspection. If I like it (ie: if it is an EXACT dimensional copy) then I will be ordering a pair for myself. Obviously it is more cost effective to run multiple sets so I'd like to ask if anyone would be interested in a set for themselves. If I can get 10 people for a 'group purchase', the cost would be $120 CDN/pair ($95 USD/pair) plus shipping which is less than half the cost of the OEM. I will snap a few pics of the prototype when I pick it up.
