Description:
PICTURES.
You are looking at an early build (front and rear sway bars) 1983 Turbo Quattro Coupe (UrQuattro). It is an original Colorado car that is Mars Red with a Brown cloth interior. I bought the car a little while ago with the intent of driving it every day, but other projects have come up and I made the decision that I can drive my 4kq just as easily and use the proceeds from this car to continue the build of my 85' UrQ. EVERY effort has been made to make this car as reliable as possible as, like I said, I really wanted it to be a daily driver. The trouble some under dash fuse box and wiring harness was ditched and a complete body harness and under hood fuse box from a 1985 Coupe GT was installed. The original WX motor and wiring harness was pulled and replaced with an MC motor and MC wiring harness. The gearbox was replaced with a unit from a 1987 5ktq for the better gear spacing (and new Amsoil Synth. Oil was put in). The motor now sports the following: BRAND NEW MC2 Short block (was
removed from Audi crate, NOT a rebuilt unit), rebuilt head with new guides and a light port job to blend the valve seats into the head, Extrude honed 2 piece exhaust manifold, Extrude honed intake manifold, Light weight Flat flywheel from a 20v 200 with new Sachs clutch, Water Cooled K24 from a 1993 S4, S4 windage tray, Earls oil cooler with -10 lines in place of the Aux. Radiator and the main radiator has an RS2 fan cowl and a 500w, 7 blade, 20v 200 fan that is relayed on its own 70a relay. I can provide a complete list to potential buyers, but basically EVERYTHING under the hood is either new or rebuilt. Every effort to make the interior look like a 1985 or later model. The interior is a complete brown cloth interior from a 1985 Coupe GT. The big bolsters of the original seats are nice, but I really wanted cloth for the hot summer days and the original Tan leather was cracked beyond repair. The 1983 Shag carpet was removed in favor of the later carpet from a 4kq. The dash,
center consol, door panels, full length door pockets and interior rear quarter panels are all of the Late style and in my opinion, much better looking. Heck, I even put and e-brake boot and handle from a 4kq in it. The instrument cluster has the late style gauges with the orange needles (from a 4kq) and has the VERY VERY rare 85' UrQ 150mph speedo with the orange pointer. It has a Sony single disc CD player, 4.5 MB Quarts in the dash, Infinity 6x9's in the rear deck and an Alpine amp in the trunk. If you put a late headliner in the car, the entire interior would be identical to an 85' model. The car rides on Bilstein Shocks and H&R springs with period correct 16x7.5 ET23 single piece BBS wheels shod with 215/50-16 BFG G-Force KDWs that have more than 90% tread left. The front sway bar JUST had the bushing replaced with OEM bushing (I know they are NLA from Audi, but I have had them for years and just decided to use them on this car) and the rear bar is a 21mm unit from the front
of a FWD 1982 4000. The front brakes have been upgraded with G60's, S.S. lines and the front rotors are ATE Power Discs that were cryo treated. The rear brakes are stock, but the e-brake cable was replace in favor of the dual cable set-up from a 4kq and they work flawlessly. One rear tie rod (the expensive ones) was replace just before I bought it and I replaced the other one, so they are both under a year old. It has the Sloping grill and VERY VERY rare Sloping headlight bezels from the 85' UrQs. It has VERY rare Cibie H4 and H1 headlights (they were new in the box when I installed them and I covered them with clear bra, so they are 100% perfect) that are on 3 relays and have 80/100w bulbs in the H4's and 100w H1's (VERY bright). It has the smoked euro tail lights with the correct bulb holders so all 4 bulbs come on. The car was painted from tip to tail, the original color, in 2000. It was a very expensive paint job that was done very well. It is NOT perfect, but it is bright
and glossy and very presentable. There are 4 bummer things about the car that I need to mention: First, at one point in time, the car had the 15x8 Ronals on it and instead of Rolling the fenders, the actually cut that wheel well lip off. Now, over time, the inner and outer quarter panel have separated on the drivers side. You have to walk up to the car to see it, but its there. A local body shop told me that it could easily be fixed by spot welding it back together, but it would require paint work as well. Second, where the right front fender meets the valance, it is rusted. It is a common place for these cars to rust and this car is no exception. Third, There is a rust bubble starting to form on the right front leading edge of the hood. Again, a common place for rust on these cars. Fourth, someone, at some point installed a strut tower brace from a B4 90 model. However, they used JB weld to glue it to the car. Why? I do not know, but its there. It does not adversely affect
the car, but it looks ridiculous. Overall the car looks KILLER and as a daily driver these things never really bothered me. Also, ever since the repaint in 2000, the car has had a clear bra and mud flaps on it, so there is almost zero rocks chips anywhere on it. Bottom line, the is an excellent looking car and if you are looking for an UrQ that needs nothing and will need nothing for some time to come, this is it. I have put just over 5,000 miles (not a misprint) on it since ALL this work was completed and it runs great. I am running 14psi boost and between the K24, the high compression MC2 and the 2 piece manifold, it is torquey!! Probably not the fastest UrQ running down the road, but it is amazingly driveable through traffic, city streets and highway passing. If you have serious interest in the car, please e-mail me for COMPLETE details because, yes, there is more than this. This car fires first try EVERY time and I would NOT hesitate to drive the car anywhere, today! Asking
$9,000/obo. The car is available for viewing in the Denver Metro area and I can deliver within 100 miles of Denver, Colorado and possibly further for a fee.
