I will try and answer the first question which should come to your mind ..... why are you selling this car? .......... I started my search for a ‘perfect’ 4KQ in 1990. After traveling many miles and looking at many cars I could never find a perfect 4KQ. I finally found one locally, it wasn’t a “10" but a good car that I drove for many years until my son talked me out of it when he went to college in Oregon. I always wanted another one. Last year I found this car. It is the cleanest 4KQ that I have ever seen. I bought it. Now one year later and only 5000 miles I found that I don’t deserve a perfect car which I have to park out in the south 40 of the mall so I don’t pick up another door ding. I can’t take the dog with me and maybe someone else will appreciate and deserve this car more than I do..

OK now about the car.

The good things.....
I have all service records from day one. From the original sales invoice to the latest oil change.
The interior is almost perfect, there isn’t a crack in the plastic or a stitch missing.... anywhere. If it wasn’t for a little discolor on the drivers seat bolster you would think it was a new (1985) car.
Except as noted below, everything works ....... all 4 doors, handles, windows, sun roof, trip computer, diff locks, antenna etc. The ashtray has never been used.
The motor uses about ½ qt. oil in 3000 miles.
There’s no tappet noise on start up.
The brakes work perfect.
The drive line VERY tight. There is no drive line ‘slop’.
The car is 100% stock except for a Pioneer Radio and a short shift kit.
The body is clean and straight and the paint shines. It has 2 or 3 small parking lot door dings and a few stone chips on the hood. For some reason the plastic is cracking on the rear spoiler and it should be replaced.

What doesn’t work....
A/C. The system was converted to R-138 with a new compressor and dryer but has a leak somewhere.
The Cruse control works but needs a new vacuum break valve at the clutch pedal.
Child window lockout switch works but needs to be replaced.
Right rear door interior lock needs a plastic piece (door and locks work fine)
The tires should be replaced.

The car IS 18 years old but drives like a almost new 1985 Audi. It doesn’t drive like a almost new 2000 Audi. If you already own a 4KQ you know what I am talking about. These cars have more wind and road noise than the newer cars and for lack of a better word ... seem antiquated.

I really don’t want to sell this to someone who is looking for a race car or a turbo conversion project. The car is in just too good of shape to be torn apart. If you are looking for a car to restore as original condition this could be done in a weekend and a few hundred dollars.

Thanks, Jim
