Description:
NO PICTURES.

For sale: Manual Tornado Red 1991 Audi 90 Quattro, 162,600 miles. Features: Black leather in good, unripped condition; two working front heated seats and working power controls for each as well; working am/fm cassette; moonroof; factory six-spoke alloys and newer Yokohoma all-season tires (80%). This car has been my daily driver since I purchased in in March 2002. It's a solid car that currently needs a bit of work.

The good: I've invested roughly $6600 since purchase. Replaced parts: Timing belt, water pump, dist. cap and rotor, right front CV joint, entire muffler system, thermostat, auxillary radiator at 123K. Brake pressure accumulator at 132K. Three of five fuel injectors between 140-149K; Front shocks and heater motor at 149K; Alternator, battery and V-belts at 161K. I've also gotten the valve cover gasket replaced, though I can't locate my record on that. 20W50 synthetic oil (Castrol Syntec) has been changed every 3500 to 4000 miles, using OEM filters and drain plug gaskets. Oil usage has been around a quart every 750 to 1000 miles (on the higher end of that since replacing the valve-cover gasket). Heated seats warm up enough to burn your backside. Mileage: 20 mpg in town and 23-25 on the highway. I've used fuel injector cleaners at every oil change.

The bad: Right now, it's running rough and I suspect that the last two fuel injectors need replacement (and/or possibly the fuel pump or fuel filter). The brake light stays on for several seconds after start up, perhaps indicatating the need for another brake pressure accumulator replacement. AC needs another recharge, though I believe the compressor is fine. The heater works intermittently. The air bag service light is on.

Cosmetically, the car is in relatively good shape, but does have some blemishes. The clear coat is beginning to peel around door handles, moonroof, etc., as well as the wheels. Molding is coming off on two places on the right side; the car has paint pitting on hood as would be expected for a car of this mileage (though the front is protected by a black leather bra). The interior is very clean and in excellent shape; the plastic gear indicator on top of the shifter has come off. The plastic wood veneer around the HVAC controls has two hairline cracks (you have to look very closely to notice them). All in all, the interior still looks very classy and in good shape. I've cleaned and conditioned the leather once or twice a year since purchase, as well as cleaning and ArmorAlling the interior several times annually.

I believe this car has a lot of life left in it; having gotten married, my wife and I need something with more practicality and storage capacity (we recently purchased a 97 Suburu Legacy Outback). With a bit more work , this 90 20V Quattro should easily run another 100K miles--and still look pretty good in the process.

I've priced the car slightly below the Kelly Blue Book recommended private party sale amount ($2000 obo). Pictures to come in the next week or so. 719-330-2186
