***This car should be considered a project or spare parts car, it does run and drive. *** I bought this 4000 before last winter as a winter driver. At the time I was driving a  89 Mercedes 560 SEL (also for sale) and it was horrible in the snow. I bought it from a friend not running, replaced the fuel pump and drove it a couple of months last winter. Here is a list of the problems starting with the worst: Fuel leak, the metal lines in the rear have rusted and been patched in a couple of places. One is leaking. I do have some copper piping and could possible fix if it was not for a lack of time. No exhaust from down pipe back. Surprisingly not that loud. I do have the cat it is off the car and has been punched out. The rest of the exhaust was rusted and no good. Front left tire leaks air, it holds for a little while but goes flat. Windows and sunroof don’t work. Door handles need jiggling, if you have owned a 4k you know what this means. Water pump seal has small slow leak and
coolant drips on engine and slightly smokes. Odo stopped at 257k, TMU. Radio gone. Battery dead, might be salvageable? Some Rust. Hood latch sticking, that’s why it is slightly open in pics.
    The good: With a jump and gas it starts right up and motor runs like a champ. Yard drives (not reg or inspected). Quattro system works great. All glass is there as well as lights, not smashed. Transmission good.
     An ambitious mechanic with access to a salvage yard could put it on the road. Would be great if you have on and need parts to help yours live on. Parts for these are expensive if available at all. Who has land and needs a field car?
   Too good of shape to send to the junkyard. The lights front and back are worth what I am asking for the entire car. I will consider parting the car out if there is no interest in it whole. I don’t really have the time and it would be a shame to take apart a running car. Pleas take this off my hands. 
    I can e-mail more pictures of what ever you want to see. Ask lots of questions. I don't think it would be advantageous to ship the car and have never done it but would consider it at buyers expense. Thanks.
