PICTURES.

Here's a picture of a b4 v6 crossmember flipped upside down.  It didn't finish mocking the setup. However it clears the allternator and power steering pump.  This is a great way to hang an intercooler, or build your custom infamous Rs2/s2 style crossmember, without it being flimsy.
