I have a '99.5 A4q 1.8T with the Tiptronic transmission and the shop that just replaced a wheel bearing suggested that my transmission pan is dented enough that it may be influencing fluid flow n a lass-than-positive manner. So, if you have a dead transmission, you may have found a buyer for the pan.
