The car itself isnt pretty. The odo stopped at 257k. The hood is rattle can painted The swap has no more than 4000 miles on it and it runs like a top. I have daily driven it all over the place every day since august and it has never let me down. Pulls really hard, currently running ~15 psi but this setup can support 20 psi (my 14" snow tires cannot). I did the swap without cutting the front cross member, but i did trim some space out for the intercooler to fit directly behind the grill. The doors have some rust spots but it is actually a really solid car underneath considering its been in new england. The brakes work well and it drives fine but it should have an alignment and the wheels need ballancing. This car is an awesome winter beater and could be kept as is (could use control arm bushings and alignment to be a bit more acceptable) or you could use all of the goodies to put into a cleaner 4k/80/90. The exhaust has a little rattle once in a while at idle but it has been to cold
for me to tweak it to be perfect. At this point I am not interested in parting it out, but this is just a feeler to see if anyone has any interest at all. I somehow ended up getting a porsche 911 basically given to me and I think I would be a fool to let that continue to sit out in the feild and rot.
So if anyone has any interest in doing an efi 10vt swap in their old audi, start adding up the parts costs. I was thinking about asking $2000 which is way less than it would cost to assemble all of the parts to do another identical swap. If I owned property keeping this car around to really fix it up would be a no brainer...but ive got air cooled flat 6's on the mind and I cannot own more than two cars right now.
I am looking for feedback, priced to low/high?, lots interest in parts, will I somehow find out the 911 no where near as awesome as a beater 4ktq (I dont think that is the case)...
I have a couple pictures here
