Description:
PICTURES.
1991 Audi V8 Quattro. 4.2 liter engine 6-speed manual transmission, believed to be the only one in North America. One of 76 original 5-speed cars sold in North America.
Pearl White with Nautic Blue interior.
4.2 liter ABH engine from 1993 car. Six-speed DQT transmission from C5 TDi test car.
Scott P ABT chip and 3.6 (PT) ECU, O2 meter, adjustable FPR, 19# fuel injectors.
6-speed (0.56 6th gear) DQT trans, one-piece Scott D drive shaft, UrS4 struts & front half shafts, B5 S4 front disk brakes (no UFOs!), with Porsche C2 calipers; rear brakes also done.
Scott D also did numerous other maintenance items, Valve cover gaskets.
Wheel bearings. Tie Rod ends. Ball Joints. Upper and lower oil pan gaskets. Pilot bearing, knock sensor. Porsche C2 front calipers. Front brake lines. Throttle shaft bearings. PCV hoses (2). Intake gasket. Heater valve. Rear brake lines. Front strut houses. Master cylinder seals. Fuel lines. More.
All new sport suspension summer 2007, new front struts put in March 2008 when the DQT was installed.
All of the above has been done since March 2008. I've had the car since May 2007 and have put on 11k miles, of which 3500 was the trip to/from Corpus Christi to have Scott D install the trans.
New ignition switch just put in (Feb 2009). Nautic blue interior, everything but drivers seat near mint. Driver's seat 8.5/10. Headliner was stitched up in the back, tastefully, cloth on back deck loose but still intact).
Aluminum pedals. 4300K HID kit. Stebro exhaust (not new, but nice and loud).
17" BBS wheels, new tires (~5k miles). Stock stereo still sounds ok, and the display in the instrument cluster still works. Even has a tape deck.
The engine has about 120k on it. Car has about 230k, transmission has maybe a max of 40k miles (it had <50k *kilometers* when it was taken from a C5 TDi test car in Germany). The car is on its third instrument cluster and reads about 123k.
Probably will need t-belt in a year or 2. Tiny bit of surface rust on one front fender, wheel well. (Quarter size). Certain panels on the car were painted before my ownership to eliminate minor rust, and similar minor paintwork should be done in a few areas within a year.
If you have emissions checks you will need new cats.
Not been driven in winter last 3 years (inc this winter), car spent at least half of its life in the south. AFAIK it has not seen a snowy or salty winter in perhaps 10 years.
I have many records for the car back to the mid 90s, and even the original sticker.
As far as I know, it is still the only 6-gang V8Q in North America, at least the only one with a 4.2. The car was an original 5-speed, so no frame cutting, welding, etc. And that 0.56 6th gear is pretty sweet... ~2300 rpm at 80 mph, and the 90-120 mph range in 3rd and 4th gears are very strong, so Iâd imagine... :-)
Talk to Scott D (scottmandu) and Cary (nuugen) as the two guys who've had their hands in this car during my ownership.
The car passed through, but was not converted by, Audiconnection in Virginia.
Asking $10000.
Could someone assemble a 4.2 6-speed for less? Possibly. But all one needs to do is drive this one home. Of course the price is negotiable.
This car has had almost every major system worked on, upgraded or maintained in the past 2 years or ~10k miles.

There is some discussion of ScottP's V8 chips here and trying them in my car.
