1990 Audi 90 Quattro â V8 Swap
1990 Audi 90 Quattro with a 3.6L PT V8 swap done. I did the swap myself roughly two years ago. The car is currently running stock 3.6L Motronic with an ABT chip. The engine wiring harness was fully integrated with the car during the swap. As such everything works in a turn-key manner. So far over the last two years I've put about 10K miles on the swap putting the car through everything from daily-driver duty to rally-cross events with no issues in the last 7000 miles. Odometer currently reads 171,000 miles.
The car is running a Audi 10-bolt steel flywheel with an 034 pilot bearing adapter. Transmission is a stock 90Q 01A. Clutch is a new 7A clutch that was put in during the swap and is holding up great. Motor mounts were custom fabricated from steel and welded to the frame- horns of the unibody. Suspension is currently an H&R spring with BOGE shock setup. Tires are BFG Traction T/A with about 50% life left on them. Brake pads & rotors & brake lines were replaced at the time of the swap to. Front brakes are G60's. The heads were rebuilt during the swap and the timing belt, water pump, T-stat were new at that time too. The motor was from a Canadian yard and had 70,000km. On it at the time of the swap.
To get the brake Master cylinder to clear the Bank 2 Ignition Distributor I had to section out a piece of the brake booster standoff and reweld it back together. No running issues have come up and the clearance between the dizzy and brake booster is close but adequate. Finally a dimple was put into the hood to clear the brake fluid reservoir
The Radiator is the factory V8-Quattro Radiator. The headlights and headlight buckets were modified for it to fit. The factory hood latches were removed for radiator clearance and it currently had hood pins.
The Black leather Interior is in good shape and cleans up well. The only issue is the car is currently missing the passenger A-pillar trim.
The exhaust is a 2.25in into one 2.5 over the rear axle. Each cylinder bank has one resonator each and there's a single chambered muffler in the rear. All-in-all the exhaust in nice but not deafening going down the road.
It currently has a kenwood head unit, MB-Quart speakers, and is amped and wired for a subwoofer but one isn't installed. I have a 10in Boston Acoustics subwoofer that will go with the car. The new owner will just have to hook it up to the amp and put it in a box.
Asking $2250.00.
