I am switching to a much needed four door car and must part with one of my Audi cars to make room. Engine has 170,000 miles and pulls strong and does not burn oil, but does have the typical lifter noise. 5-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly with no synchro issues (transmission mounts were replaced and oil has been changed.) New front shocks and starter last year. Spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, hydraulic fluid and german oil filter changed regularly. All electronics including digital dash and trip computer function properly with the exception of the cruise control. Heated seats. Hand brake functions, cat installed, always passes emissions. What's wrong with it? The right front tire was punctured and has been replaced with a non-matching tire that, over time, leaks air. The front brakes need to be replaced, the left rotor and pad has been removed and the right pad and rotor are worn. The car does fully stop for test drives. The alternator appears to be done. It has
responded to WD-40 and come back to life from time to time, but this appears to be it. It will hold a charge long enough for test drives. The left front makes a clicking noise, probably a bad CV joint. There is some rust. This is the best Audi I have ever owned in terms of overall reliability. It's been to ME, RI, CT and up until two days ago (alt failing and 4-door almost road ready) was my daily driver since 2005. I would prefer the new owner repair and drive the car, but ultimately that is out of my hands. As is for parts or repair.
