Price reduced! The 1991 Audi 200 Quattro Avant is a super, high performance sports car ----- and a wagon! The 20 valve, 5 cylinder 2.2 liter inline dual overhead cam intercooled turbocharged engine develops 217 hp @ 5700 rpm with 228 ft. lbs of torque @1950 rpm. Redline of this multipoint electronic fuel injected powerplant is 7000 rpm. This engine, with its standard 5-speed transmission, propels this exceptional vehicle 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. But don�t stop there, this Autobahn cruiser�s top speed is factory rated at 148 mph. The suspension, aerodynamics and overall control not only makes this type of performance possible, it makes it seem almost effortless! Rare? The best information we have tells us that only about 150 of these Avants were imported into the United States in 1991 and that was the only year that these cars had the 5 cylinder inline S type 3B 20 valve turbocharged engine in the Quattrro (all wheel drive) vehicle. These cars were only available with the 5-speed
transmission. (This same engine/ transmission combination was also available in the sedan, of which approximately 1300 were imported.) Sticker price in 1991 was $42,755. Prior to purchasing this vehicle, I searched the various websites for over a year, and never found one in nearly the exceptional condition as is this car. Many of these cars have been chipped or otherwise modified or abused. This car is in exceptional original condition. I am the third owner. This car was purchased new from Pray Audi in Greenwich, Connecticut in December of 1991. The original owner kept the original bill of sale and window sticker as well as all the maintenance records in a loose-leaf notebook, which goes with the car. This notebook shows that the car was professionally maintained, including the use of Mobil 1 synthetic oil from the beginning. The original owner kept the car until 2004, when he sold it to the proprietor of an import car service facility in Florida. At the time of this sale, the
vehicle had 143, 684 miles on the odometer. The second owner also kept thorough maintenance records and continued the use of Mobil 1. This second owner installed an H&R lowering kit, which lowered the car approximately one inch. He also installed an aftermarket steering wheel (black Alcantara sport wheel imported from Luxembourg). He had the exterior resprayed in the original crystal silver color, due to the deterioration of the clear coat. I installed an aftermarket CD player. The original springs, steering wheel and radio are included with the car. The interior leather seats, carpets, and even the very hard to find rear cargo shade are all in excellent condition. When I found the car in Florida in 2007, it had approximately 160,000 miles on it. Recognizing the rarity of this car in that exceptional condition, I immediately wired a deposit & flew to Florida. Completing the deal, I jumped in the vehicle and drove it back to Northern California, approximately 3300 miles. The
quality & performance of the car on that trip confirmed my belief that I had indeed found an exceptional vehicle. Currently, the car has only 175,000 miles on the odometer, so I have only driven it about 15,000 miles in the two plus years I have owned it. This is due to the fact that I work at home, so I have no daily commute, plus that most of my out-of-town travel is by air. The question that must be asked, then, is why do I want to sell a car that I love so much & in which I have invested so much time, effort & emotion? Unfortunately, the same business relationships that have served me well & allowed me to have interesting & exotic vehicles like this one, have turned on me in this current recession, so I need to cut back to bare essentials & preserve my limited capital in any way I can. I sincerely hope to find an enthusiast owner who will further the charmed life of this exceptional vehicle with the same passion & enjoyment as has been my privilege to
