Description:
PICTURES.
130k miles. Bamboo metallic with papyrus interior. Strong runner with occasional hiccup - could be just water in the gas tank because I don't drive it very much. It's been a really good, reliable car.

Good:

Hoppen stage 1 chipped ECU & 2.5bar PT / otherwise stock engine. Doesn't burn oil, no fluid leaks. Great highway cruiser, will get 26-27mpg on trips. Lower if you give in to temptation and put your foot down. More like low 20s around town.

clean windshield and "quattro" written in rear defroster wires

brand new summer tires, Goodyear Eagle GT VR-rated on stock 15x7.5 BBS wheels

Bilsteins on stock springs

relayed euro headlights w/stongard type 3M film

nice CD stereo + 10 disc changer & speakers (incl 8" sub tube) replacing the Bose cassette deck and speakers

reasonable original UFO brakes - same pads since I got it, I don't beat on the brakes. Never got around to big brake kit.

4 heated seats & everything electrical works, all little bulbs light up except for the rear diff switch

cold A/C converted to R134A with new o-rings, dryer and variable-orifice valve

steel wheels with studded Hakkapellita 1s - now 10+ years old but very few studs missing and lots of tread left

4 color-matched fitted floormats + front seats have rubber "winter" mats

front door and trunk hinge wiring repaired with more flexible wire

pot metal part that breaks in driver's door outside handle replaced with steel part

receipts since 1997 for things like heater core, hvac fan, pump to rack hose, thermostat, heater valve, batteries, hydraulic accumulator, timing belt & water pump with shaft seals, spark plugs & wires, afterrun thermoswitch

paper Bentley manual 3-vol set

extras: metal-geared distributor NIB, 3 brake hoses, a couple cans of Pentosin CHF 11S, paper copy of parts microfiche

Not as good:

small dings in every door, crease under trim on passenger rear - all there when I bought it

paint in generally good shape and pretty shiny but not showroom fresh after 20 years

some discoloration on driver's seat leather outer bolsters, there when I got it and hasn't gotten any worse

previous owners should have installed front mudflaps - paint erosion behind front wheels from apparent gravel rallying

that hiccup - can be disconcerting. not a full-boost thing, usually part-throttle. Could need new BPV, I have not ever replaced it. Doesn't stall when pushing clutch pedal in which is the usual symptom.

trunk can "forget" that it's supposed to stay unlocked after a drive, because I removed a ball bearing that was sticking instead of replacing the whole trunk lock assembly

front doors have been apart a few times, there are some broken plastic trim pieces inside them

plenum cover under hood has a few cracks

So why am I selling? One word: marriage. Instead of my 2 really old cars (this and an 88 GTI) where at least one would always work for parts runs :) I have "agreed" to consolidate into "my" car (just got B7 avant) and "her" car (Prius, ugh).
