I'm selling my beloved Pelican Blue Avant. We planned to keep this car a long time, but inherited a newer, lower-mileage Passat. Asking price is $4,900 OBO.

It's a 1999.5 with the 1.8T engine and manual transmission and 178,XXX miles (I commute 140 miles round-trip). It has the cold-weather package, sunroof, sport package and rare cloth sports seats. I've added 17" S4 wheels (the original 16" Swings are included) and had the windows tinted. A cargo net is included. The gauges have chrome rings (easily removed). Aside from that (and the stereo stuff listed below), the car is unmodified.

The stereo has been properly upgraded with a Concert II CD player (it has the adapter so it illuminates, doesn't turn itself off, etc.) and Infinity speakers all around. It also has a Dension IceLink iPod adapter.

I'm the second owner and purchased the car with about 54,000 miles on it. While I've owned it the oil has been changed every 5,000 miles with proper synthetic oil (usually Mobil 1) and a quality filter. I have all records since the car was new.

Major maintenance items: The control arms were replaced at 120K miles; rear brake pads and rotors, 138K; tires, 147K; Bilstein Sports, 164K; front brake pads and rotors and rebuilt ABS module, 175K.

Issues: The front bumper has a scrape from a parking-garage incident; there are some other minor paint scratches; the trip-computer display in the instrument cluster has the usual issues; the water pump is starting to make some noise (it's almost due for the timing-belt service).
