Extra Peace of Mind - $4500 Value Audi Pure Platinum Warranty, Lots of Time Left
In August 2009, I purchased an Audi Pure Platinum Warranty from Roger Beasley Audi (Austin, Texas) for $4520.  The warranty is good for an additional 4 years or 48,000 miles beyond the purchase date, and it's transferable...about 75% of the coverage remains, and that means you'll be covered until 2013, or 94,900 miles.  (Or 36,000 miles of coverage remaining!).

The Audi Pure "Platinum" level warranty is an "exclusionary" warranty, which is the highest level of coverage.  It means everything is covered unless it's explicitly excluded (and exclusions are:  brake linings, brake drums and rotors, brake pads, air bags, solar powered devices, hinges, glass, lenses, sealed beams, body parts and panels, trim, moldings, door handles, lock cylinders, tires, wheels, batteries, light bulbs, upholstery, paint, bright metal, freeze plugs, heater and radiator hoses, exhaust system, shock absorbers, audio, CV joint boots).

I did my research before buying the warranty, and it's administered by the very reputable Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc. - a major player in extended warranties.  They have always been easy to deal with, they pay my dealer directly, and they have paid out thousands of dollars in repairs.
