Description:
PICTURES.
So as much as it pains me, the time has now come to part with my trusty and beloved Audi. I no longer have the time or space for multiple vehicles, and Accounts Payable (aka the wife) has ordered me to get rid of "that old thing" (but at least she let me replace it with something cool...).

With that said, up for grabs is my 1984 Audi 4000S quattro. I rescued her from an Arkansas front yard a little over two years ago and have loved every second of ownership. When I first bought it I intended to use it for entertainment and the occasional NW Arkansas snow, but it quickly became my daily driver when my VW went under the knife.

I have only had a handful of issues with this car, all of which were fixed by not only replacing the culprit part but also overhauling the affected system. When the MC went out, I replaced the entire braking system with new performance arts. When the water pump gasket leaked, I replaced the entire cooling system, etc.

Anyway, onto the details:

1984 Audi 4000S quattro
2.2L I-5 JE engine w/ 5-speed
016 quattro transmission
Zermatt silver exterior, brown cloth interior
76,xxx miles (actual mileage is a bit higher- maybe 80,xxx)

New timing belt
New water pump, radiator, and hoses
New valve cover gasket, crankshaft oil seal, and camshaft oil seal
New tires (less than 5000 miles)
Used doors (with working windows!)
New-ish Bilstein suspension
New braking system- MC, proportioning valve, all new calipers, e-brake cables, cross-drilled rotors, Mintex pads, fresh fluid
Full tune-up (plugs, wires, cap, and rotor)
Bosal mid-muffler with deleted rear
Current TX inspection w/ Greensheet (if that means anything to anyone)
The car pings a little on 87 octane so I run 93. I also use conventional oil, changed every 3 months (the odometer is intermittent). The coolant was flushed when I did the water-pump, and I replaced it with Dex-Cool simply for availability.

Obviously after 25 years the car is in rough cosmetic condition. It has a little rust (from getting hit by deer in that front yard...) and a few dings. A trip to the body shop couldn't hurt, but I've never been one to care about what my car looks like, just how it runs. There is also some debate at my work (I work at a Porsche dealership and about half the old guys got their start at Audi back in the day) as to whether or not it has a misfire. I plan on running a can of 44K on the next fill-up, but if that doesn't improve anything I won't bother.

All-in-all this is one of the best cars I've ever owned, and I hate to see it go. It runs strong (even though it's slow) and I always get comments on it from true car guys.
