Description:
NO PICTURES.
I have a 1990 Audi 200 QT 10V that is my daily driver. It has approximately 200K miles. Still runs like the fine machine it was designed to be. I have stopped all the oil leaks, air leaks, vacuum leaks, hydraulic fluid leaks and coolant leaks. After I stopped the last coolant leak, installed an OEM radiator, filled the cooling system with the correct mixture of Audi specific antifreeze I started experiencing the following problem. On days when the ambient temperature is above 75F, if you do a quick stop at the local WalMart, Publix, BP station or Costco and get back to the car while the run after fan is running you cannot start the car. The ignition system will not turn the engine over. It acts like the ignition system has an interlock to disable it if the engine temperature exceeds some design limit. As soon as the run after fan turns off the car can be immediately started. Is this an ignition system design or is this a problem? Has anyone experienced this situation or
corrected it? Let me know.
