Description:
NO PICTURES.
Up for sale is this 1983 Audi Coupe Quattro also known as the UR-Quattro or just URQ with 88k original miles. I am the third owner of this car. Another family member was the second, and our one-time neighbor was the first, so I know the history of the car fairly well. It was one of three URQs originally sold at the Audi dealership in Iowa City, IA (one blue, one gold and this silver) and spent the first 20 years of its life on Iowa roads. The Iowa roads and winters are the primary cause of the rust that can be seen in the pictures. I have had the car while living in California and now it is based here in Pennington, New Jersey. 88k is the actual level of mileage. The car has been in and out of storage over the years and has been driven lightly by me in the last 10 years.
The Good:
The best feature of the car is that it has low miles and runs well and starts every time. Most things on the car work with exceptions listed below. The car comes with some interesting parts. Everything in the list below was installed about 10 years ago. Iâve probably put 3000 miles on the car in its current configuration.
-Euro bumpers
-Water cooled turbo conversion
-1 bar wastegate with required ECU tweak by Ned Ritchie
-Audi Sport CIS system that I also bought from Ned Ritchie. Ned described it as an Audi Sport CIS system, but he would be the best person to tell you about the history of this part. This was about 10 years ago, but if I recall our conversation correctly, it was used by some of the factory teams in the US at one point. It has a slightly different shape to the air flap.
-3 sets of wheels: 5 fuchs wheels that are a little scratched up, stock 6 inch ronals and 8 inch ronals that I bought from a guy in Germany. With the current 8 inch Ronals the wheels rub in the back under hard cornering so the next owner will need to do a better job of rolling the fenders.
-G60 brakes.
-To my knowledge, no accidents.
The bad
-Rust! The pictures speak for themselves. No holes in the floor or anything like that. Note that on the trunk, there is a rust stain from when the old spoiler cracked exposing the bars inside and causing iron oxide to drip onto the hatch. I recently replaced the spoiler itself so this is mainly cosmetic.
-Dashboard has cracks
-Cruise control does not work. Who knows if it ever did.
-Radio antenna does not work.
-The windows both work but are a little slow and sometimes like to be helped with a little push.
-Up until recently both differential locks worked, but one of them stopped working recently. The vacuum servo may just need to be fiddled with.
-The sunroof crank does not work, because the gears in the sunroof (not the crank itself) are a little worn down.
-Other smaller odds and ends that come from being 30 years old.
