Description:
PICTURES.
This is a rare Audi. It has a 2.2 turbocharged in-line 5 powerplant coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission, 217K on the clock, some nice mods and is very fast.
The car is cosmetically challenged. It has some scratches in the paint, door dings and cracks and scratches on the bumpers. It has some rust on the rear hatch and behind the wheel wells. It has been sandblasted on the nose from winter driving.
That being said, the paint still shines up nicely and the clear coat is fine. It looks great from 15 or 20 feet away in the parking lot.
And when you put your foot down and hit 120, you wonât be worrying about how it looks.
Because you can easily go 120 or faster in this car.
Mechanically this car is excellent.
I didnât care so much about the exterior. People in SUVs are going to park next to you and ding your doors anyhow. But thereâs no way in hell those same people can pass you driving up to the mountains in this car, unless you let them.
Iâve spared no expense in keeping this car running like the high-performance beast that it is. Iâm the third owner, and have nearly all of the records of the maintenance done during my ownership. Oil changes, preventive work, a recent timing belt service (August 2011), new power steering pump, starter, fuel pump and much, much more has all been done and done right either by myself or Salta Service in Denver.
The leather interior is clean. The heated seats work (yes, even the driverâs side) and have no tears although they do show some wear. The dash is perfect, and the stock stereo has been replaced with an aftermarket CD unit that has been integrated perfectly into the stock Bose speaker system. The front window is one year old and has no cracks or major chips. The AC was inspected and recharged last spring and blows cold.
The few flaws I can think of right now are that the brake pad wear sensor light is on (brake pads are fine, itâs just one of those things that hasnât bothered me enough to fix because itâs a PITA to do). The driverâs side remote locking sensor no longer works (passenger side is fine). You have to cycle the locks closed and then open again with the remote to unlock the rear hatch, and the passenger electronic window is best operated from the driverâs side switch, as the passenger window switch is intermittent.
Finally, the car has a few tasteful modifications, including an MTM stage 1 chip, Stebro stainless steel exhaust and silicone hose package with a metal crossover pipe. An RS2 exhaust manifold completes the tune, making this a fast yet reliable Avant.
The car sits on 16-inch Audi Fat Five wheels with 3 month old Fuzion HRI tires.
Iâm selling this car because I just purchased a 2001.5 Stage 1 S4 Avant with the 2.7 twin turbo motor so unfortunately the S6 has to go.
