I am completing a 3b engine swap on my 1990 CQ. The 7a engine is still in the car and is in excellent condition. It has about 180k miles. New timing belt, tension roller,water pump, etc. I bought the car to convert to a track car and we have already tested it with the 7A engine, with all suspension and track modifications in place. The engine runs strong and exhibits no problems. Ran it for about 1,000 miles and it used no oil, no smoke, etc. Sounds good and you can hear it run, as it is currently still in the car. My partners in the ownership and build of the car are both Audi certified mechanics and they have checked it out and did the belt/pump work.
