Description:
PICTURES.

A well-maintained older Audi ideal for the enthusiast or home mechanic who wants a well-maintained and extremely functional vehicle.

Silver car. Rear hatch is white (it was replaced when the glass shattered). Minimal rust.

Due to image limitations on this site, please see the full photoset at https://www.flickr.com/photos/etotheipi/sets/72157644134122644/

UPGRADES AND EXTRAS:

European headlights and relay harness (probably worth $500 alone)

Factory repair manuals ($180 on Amazon)

2 sets of wheels and tires (but the studded Hakka 2s are old)

Gray interior, sport seats

Variable intermittent wiper relay

All maintenance records

Trailer hitch (rusty, used for 2 cross-country moves, rated for 2800 lbs?)

Thule roofrack

Accident history: one parking-lot fender bump (2005?): no damage, although the other car*s fender fairing was dented.

THINGS THAT DON*T WORK:

Cruise control

Rear wiper

Gearshift lever leather boot is detached at one corner

Driver*s seat heater

Timing belt only has 30k miles on it, but is 9 years old

Right rear window does not open

Small chip on right headlight lens

Larger chip on one taillight cover

Rear suspension control arm bushings should be replaced soon

The car drives beautifully. Full power, tight steering (as tight as these cars ever were, at least), transmission and clutch are great, the sunroof works, the A/C even seems to work a bit (although not at full power). The interior is in good condition. The exterior top and underside show very little rust. I get about 22mpg city / 27 highway, but YMMV. And as you probably know, the handling in snow is superb. I am the second owner, and I have all maintenance records from 1990 onward.

Brand new auxiliary cooling pump, front CV boots, front brake hydraulic hoses, rear brake pads and rotors. I was going to drive the car cross-country for my move, and the car was maintained with that in mind, but I decided I*d rather not have a car in Boston, and this is a better place for a turbo quattro.

This car would be ideal for a home mechanic and would probably provide excellent performance for many more years at low cost. Professional maintenance would be more expensive but still feasible--I*ve had it maintained by Wolfsburg Autowerks.

I would like to complete the transaction on June 22 or 23; all offers made by 10:00 on June 22 will be considered unless a really good offer comes along first and I get lazy. You*re welcome to have a mechanic look over the car; please arrange this in time.
