After you've done everything and still can't get your seat belts to retract
all the way
heres how to correct the problem. You have to be real brave to do it
because it
requires taking the seat belt assembly apart. I did this on my 89 200TQ
which is more
difficult to do than on the earlier models audis. There is a flat spring
about a 1/4"
wide and about 15' long that is reverse wound inside, kind of like in a wind
up alarm clock.
This gives it the tension so when you pull the belt out it winds up the
spring and puts more
tension on it. You can take it apart and wind up the spring four or five
more turns so the
belt will retract more. This is real tricky to do but can be done. Just
remember that
the seat belt assembly has gravity ball inside of it. So if the unit is not
exactly up
and down the belt will only retract.
Hope this helps.
