Starter Noise on 89 2cq

Hello again everyone.  Love the new list look, thanks admin.

Here is my problem.  Six months ago I replaced my start with a reman bosch.
Everything was great until about two weeks ago (shortly after a timing belt
change, and yes Phil, with the waterpump and the rest).  In the morning
after the car has sat over night when I attempt to start it makes a spinning
sound but doesn't engage the fly wheel.  Once it does hit the fly wheel (and
I haven't been able to stop it fast enough) it grinds.

Is this a bad solenoid or is there some relay that controls this?  Sorry
still waiting on my bently order to get filled.
