I would suggest a live trap with peanuts as bait.  It won't kill the 
varmint, but, at least, you can capture him/her and release her into any 
woods nearby.  Or, at least, in someone ELSES garage...lol

Speaking of rodents, what are people using to keep them out of the garage?

I have a single car free standing garage that a chipmunk has taken a liking 
to.  With winter coming, he will like it even more.  My girlfriend won't 
let
me kill him with a trap.  I've thrown some moth balls around.  I've doused
the outside of the garage with ammonia.  Any other ideas?  I would use
pepper, but that would bother me.  I work on an antique car in there.
