A nice place to visit and spend a week at is Acadia National Park in Maine. They
have some great hiking areas, the views are fantastic, great twisty driving
further inland, and the park itself is pretty civilized. You won't have to wet
camp, there are some very good motels and hotels in that area plus there are
enough shops and activities to keep the wife and kiddies distracted. If you drive
the coastal route to Acadia there are many places you can stop over for good eats
and great views.
