Airbag light in 98' A4

Hello Audifans,

I just signed up today for both the A4 and the quattro mailing lists. My
apologies if I've sent this to the wrong list.

I just purchased a used 98 A4 1.8 Quattro in May w/25K miles.  Over this
past weekend the airlight began to stay on constantly.  I spoke w/Loeber
motors here in Chicago and I have set up an appointment in September to have
this looked into.

I've read previous posts in the archive where this happened after work had
been done on the steering wheel. This is not the case w/me. It just started
for no reason.

Is this a known problem or has anyone else had a similar situation?
