Stuck sparkplug redux

The post from Mike regarding pulling the head to install a Helicoil
caught my attention just now. Does this mean the hundreds I've done over
the last 27 years were done wrong and didn't work? I've done them on
everything from Mazda pickemups to VW beetles to Jensen Healeys and
Ferraris, mostly in the car. Granted, never done it on a 911, but then
I've never had to. IMO, removal of the head is unnecessary in nearly all
cases with the exception of cars with tapered seats. HTH, John
