At the beginning of the summer I had some weird behavior on on 1990
200 TQ avant, wooshing sound under acceleration, funny idle behavior,
but no stalling. Everone always suggests to check the ribbed i/c to
throttle body hose for leaks under pressure. I did that and it was fine.
qshipq then suggested to check out the turbo to i/c hose, it seems on
the dual knock cars, Audi changed this hose from a rubber U, to a rubber
U which goes into a oil trap/filter section and then into a bellows section.
Sure enough the bellows section had good 2 in tear in it which vented air
under boost and when the engine moved under accel. I replaced the U
hose with spare I had from a 1988 MC engine and everything works fine.
Good luck.
