Quirks or probs?

Hey all,

I've now had my 1994 90S for a week, and I've run into a few "things".

First there is the cruise control, that worked for a few days, but now
doesn't work.  Any ideas?

Second is the emissions system light which comes on as soon as I hit 135
km/h.  Odd?

Third is the central locking system, that was working on the trunk lid,
until tonight, when it decided to become just an ordinary lock.  The door
locks can arm and disarm it, but the lid lock has lost all control over the
system.

Fourth is the erratic smell of exhaust fumes entering the cabin.  Not a
persistent problem, but especially occurs on hard acceleration.

Finally, fifth is the fact that there was a lot of heat entering the cabin
this evening, and I hadn't even been driving hard.

Now, on top of these, I'd also like to know what easy things I can upgrade
to better the lifespan of the car and gain a little performance.  (ie, K&N
air filter, special spark plugs, plug wires)
