It's done regularly on some engines - I think prop-driven military
transport aircraft use it.  At least one ur-quattro in the UK (Lee Wong's) has
used water in the past, if not at present.

And 'Yanks' - in our parlance referring to the WWII soldiers who were
so famously complained of as "overpaid, oversexed and over here" -
would certainly recognise a Bedford.  I believe the brand is now defunct.
