Oh another method (I have not done this on a V-6):

The 02 sensor should put out a varying voltage centered around 
0.4VDC.  You might try putting a DMM in parallel with the )2 sensor 
lead (to ground, of course) and see if (a) its around 0.4V, and (b) 
if its changing.  A no to eithger spells trouble.  bentley goes 
through the steps (along with the vag tool data).  Do you have 
Bently?  Get it if you plan to work on your car.
