Your talking about brakes here, hoping you will be lucky !!!!!
False inputs to the system can cause unpredictable and dangerous braking, as

Not true. You are suppost to put a sacrificial plastic cap on end and push
in fully. The plastic will wear slightly and the sensor is then at the
correct depth. I confess here that I pushed sensor fully in then backed out
a gnat's tadger.
