I used many a curse word last night :) In the first 2 hours of replacing
the power string return line, I was able to remove the old line, and get the
new line into position.
Things to consider:
It will be a bear to do if you choose not to remove the vacuum booster
housing and master cylinder (I am not removing these). There is very little
room to work around the connection to the steering rack. I removed that
banjo bolt with a straight crescent wrench (19mm) and a length of pipe at
the end as an extension. I did have to move the heater core coolant lines
out of the way (I just pushed them using a length of steel bar as a lever.
Where I'm at:
The new line is in position, however the steering rack connection is proving
to be a pain. The new line uses a revised banjo bolt with 2 copper sealing
rings (the old line had internal o-rings on the connection. I must have
lost the 2nd ring about 4 times down there trying to get the threads
started. I received some installation tips from other listers today that
I'll put to use tonight. I'll report on my progress tomorrow.
