... yes, I'm sure you are correct ... it IS Audi's fault that you paid $50
too much ... and when you get a chance I'd like to know the name of a VW
dealer that would sell that expansion tank for $25 ...

When I am looking or a part that I imagine is available from VW (or in
desperation because the Audi dealers don't happen to have a part I need in
their stock) I call the local VW dealers and feed them the part number.  IME
the stock price difference varies ... I've seen times when VW wanted more
than Audi wanted for the same part.  I've also seen variation in the stock
price between VW dealers ... and Audi dealers.  If anyone is to blame I
would think it would be "free enterprise" ... and one of the tenets of that
system is Caveat Emptor ... it sure seems to me that anyone on this list
should know the places from whence better parts prices can be obtained ...
