Rear brakes please help!!

I attempted to replace my brake pads on the rear of my 1992 100CS.  I know 
this is probably a stupid question but i can't seem to figure it out.

How do you retract the piston in the caliper in order to enlarge the opening 
to accomodate the new pads???  I tried squeezing it with channel locks but to 
no avail.

please help.

Also...   I sucessfully replaced both rotors easily but had to use the old 
pads until i can figure out to retract the piston.  Replacing the rotors was 
too easy, was there something i missed?
