Slow acceleration...

I own a 1988 Audi 90 Quattro that's giving me a minor problem.  When I 
accelerate, I get very little power under 1500 rpm, after which, I take off 
like a scalded cat.  Tricky to drive that way, but I'm getting used to it. 
 Any reason why my quat is doing this?  It does this in first AND second 
gear.  Since I don't really drive under 2k over 2nd, I'm not sure if it 
will do this in the higher gears.
