VDO Oil Gauge - Low Reading

Recently I fitted one of the VDO 3-gauge pods (pulled from a '85 4000)
into another vehicle, complete with original oil pressure and temp
senders.  The voltage and pressure gauges are doing fine, but the
temperature gauge barely moves.  It will only go just slightly to the
right of 60 C', and I'm quite certain that  my oil is warmer than that.  

I had another spare gauge - I swapped that in with identical results.  So
I'm thinking it must be the sensor, right?  Does anyone know what the
resistance curve should look like for these things?

Any thoughts or data appreciated.
