just say no to HTML and MIME

Please search through the manual for your email client(heaven forbid)
and make sure you're not sending emails to the list with MIME and
HTML in them.
I'm investigating a program which will pre-process email sent to the
list, and convert MIME(or just throw it away if it's identical to the
plaintext component, it's pretty smart), strip HTML, and even zap
those annoying "get yer free internet access here!" ads from the
bottom of people's messages. It will be a bit before it is ready.
I'm also looking into how to strip the footer text from each message
in the digest, this adds about 60-100 lines of extra text that never
needs to be sent. I'm also thinking about how to zap headers that
aren't necessary and shorten the length of the footer at the bottom
of messages.
Hopefully this will save our UK listers a few $(well, not quite $,
but you know what I mean) and ease up the load on the poor ISDN line
the list is running off of...
Brett
PS:got your browser's homepage set to the Audifans website? Please,
please, please unset that ASAP! Bandwidth is at a premium, and
repeatedly loading the Audifans logo and the HTML does tend to add up
if even a small percentage of the 1,500 people on the list are doing
it throughout the day. Go set it to something like www.suck.com,
www.slashdot.org, www.globe.com/globe/ or
www.dancinghampster.com(only if you are clinically insane)...whatever
floats yer boat.
