S4 Nav System

Ti,
I have to disagree. I've seen some _really_ nice installs done in
an A4/S4 using DIN units that look fine. Yes, the Symphony radio is
huge. Yes, the radio works pretty well, but it is not the ultimate.
You have space for two DIN units in there. Alpine DVD Nav system and
DVD player or DSP would give you the basis for a killer stereo system.

My preference is for a color LCD map display, to supplement the voice
commands. I think many of the systems do have voice commands. The Alpine
system will integrate seamlessly into the stereo system, as you're replacing
the head unit and not just adding this piece onto another stereo system.

IMHO, the advantages of the DVD-based system far outweigh the integration
that you speak of. One thing- does your S4 have that ugly hockey puck on
the trunk? The A6 and A8 w/ nav have a horrible "hockey puck" that sits
on the trunklid for the GPS antenna. That's the worst GPS antenna I've
seen. Merc and Bimmer do a better job w/ the antenna, although it's still
ugly.

For the price of the nav system as you mention, I think it is not a far
leap to spend an extra $400 and get a killer head unit/nav system that will
far outperform the Symphony radio. Just MHO.
