Sleeved MC engine...

Just over a year ago I had a post on the list regarding the use of
sleeves in an engine as opposed to a rebore and oversized pistons. If I
recall correctly it was best to oversize for some reason.

Well, just got off the phone with my engine builder after a week's
silence. It would seem my "new" sub-assembly wasn't as great as
expected. After a while in an acid bath, followed by a cylinder honing
and a UV light inspection it turns out 2 of the cylinder bores have some
sort of pitting right where it matters. He suspects the motor it came
with had been running with a busted head gasket for some time before it
came off the road.

It seems I will now have a sleeved MC motor. Just the 2 pistons, at
least they're aren't next to each other. The work is guaranteed so if
anything goes wrong...

Just what I was trying to avoid over a year ago when I took the
sub-assembly as my old block would have needed 5 new pistons. Oh well...
too late to hunt down another MC block. :(
