Richard: You may want to discuss bringing in your own parts with your mechanic, or at least find some other parts sources your mechanic can use... he makes some of his money off parts markup, so he may prefer to purchase the parts for you.

Dealer parts can be purchased at a discount via mail through Linda at Carlson Audi, or Mac at Clair Audi, among others. Many other venders such as www.thepartsconnection.com will sell things like pads, brake discs, or other parts that are not dealer only at good prices, as well.

Pads for UFOs run somewhere around $110; rotors around $275 or so each; rear pads under $50 a set. You can get rear Bilstein shocks for around $125 each through places like www.shox.com.

For you 200q20v or 3B engine guys, remember that there's a separate mailing list here at audifans: 200q20v at audifans.com
I've also got extensive archives and repair info on my 200q20v site.
