    I beg to differ.  All 3 speed boxes are vulnerable to the same seal
failures.  The weakest part of the 3 speed autobox are the seals between the
transmission and the differential.  When those fail the differential fluid
spills into the ATF.  The differential runs dry and the valve body gets
clogged with the thicker weight oil of the differential.  The 3 speed box on
the 5kt are the same as the ones on a 4k, same as the ones on an 80 TYP89.
The 5kt does put considerably more strain on the differential than the 4cyl
4k does, very true.
