Hello all, I am back from an amazing few weeks. Beginning with all your
wonderful encouragements, I left for Orange County where I got married and
promptly left for Jamaica for 7 nights. The wedding day was amazing, even
for a guy! It was a wonderful day, all of you who are married can attest to
that. So far married life is good, my wife is smart, she knows her best
chance of replacing her aging Jetta is to vouch for an Audi =)
As I promised you all, we left the wedding in my 80qt with fresh 18"X7.5"
wheels! With 215/35 Toyo tires they fit! I do get a small scrape in the
rear on only the biggest bumps and rises on the freeway, and that is only
with 2 or more passengers. In driving for a week now, it has only done that
twice, with no noticeable evidence on the tires. It is barely hitting the
rear fender lips which I will modify. Going from 205/45-16's, the ride is a
little stiffer, bumps and cracks are more noticeable, but the ride is hardly
punishing, and the noise levels are not too bad either. Steering is a little
twitchy, the thing feels like it is riding on razors, it is incredibly
responsive.
And as for the handling, it is awesome, things happen much more quickly,
response if very fast, and the car transitions quickly from different
attitudes-definitely not the set up for Sunday drivers or those who drive
carelessly at the limit.
And well, the looks...it gets a lot of attention, it almost looks like a
cartoon =) Its fun, I will enjoy them till that first big pot hole =) Marc
S. put up a pic on his site from the wedding. You will notice my eyes were
closed...I was imagining later that night ;) Enjoy, good to be back!
