A4 Question

Any A4 owners here or is everyone hanging out at the A4 forum?
I would like to mount my Valentine ones remote display in the ashtray.
After taking out the insert it fits fine but I couldn't find any way
to sneak the cable out back so does anybody know if the ashtray/lighter
piece can be removed?
