I think the 1.8S is Euro-only. It's the higher-powered 1.8 version with the 
SF engine, 88 hp vs. 75 of the basic 1.8. Early cars had carbs and manual 
chokes, while later cars got O2-sensored cats and injection.
Excellent car- light, simple and decent performance. I've had one for three 
years.
