I once flew to Washington, DC area to purchase and drive back to Denver a 66
330 GT Ferrari. This was from a magazine ad, pre Internet and all that.
It wasn't the smartest thing I ever did. I was young, impulsive, and stupid
(I'm still the latter 2 of those). I had no business attempting such a thing.
My income wasn't then, and isn't now, able to support such a thing. I was
very lucky I didn't have any major problems.
The issue wasn't distance, but my lack of prudence, and thoroughness.
I think a smart purchase is not dependent on location, or mileage.
The right car at the right price would send me far and wide.
I say go for it! The hunt (and gather) is half the fun.
