Flywheel again...

Hi!

Well, it turned out I missed some changeover in the flywheels on the n/a
I5 cars (NF and PR motors) for around 1988-1989 so I went and bought the
wrong flywheel for my MC engine.

Anyone got a cheap flywheel that they don't want from a MC or 3B motor,
part number is 034 105 270 S? And The cheaper the better. :)

After much looking I still went and bought the wrong thing. ETKA says
AAR and old NF had the same wheel, NF and MC different by a revision. So
I picked up the AAR flywheel. Part number is wrong (034 105 271C), not
as listed in ETKA (034 105 270E). Only spotted that the 3B and MC share
the same flywheels (034 105 270S) a few days ago. Turns out the 3B
sitting up in Johannesburg has already had the flywheel removed and
sold. :( Waiting to see if someone at Volkwagen has the 270S wheel for
me. It seems I overlooked a change over in the NF/PR motor flywheel for
1988/1989. The old NF/PR flywheel has the same setup as the MC/3B
engines flywheel, the needle bearing in the crank. The newer ones (270E,
271C) use a ball bearing in the flywheel.

I'm really interested in using the proper part (270S), but for now I'll
have to opt for a $50 flywheel my mechanic has from a 1988 5000/100,
part number 035 105 269F, which uses the needle bearing setup. Have to
machine it for that timing pin. Just looking to see who has spares of
270S.

What a pain. Tired of hack jobs (sleeved MC engine [not what I really
wanted], and now flywheel).

G.
